        Class Activity Schedule

   This year our school is on a 6 day activity rotation.  If, for example, our class has P.E. on a Monday, it will be Tuesday of the next week when we go to P.E. again.  Students will need to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.  I will send a text reminder the night before. 

Our 6 activities are:

                   A day- P.E. (wear tennis shoes)                       

                   B Day- Intervention with teacher                   

                   C Day- ART in the classroom                             

                   D Day- Computer Lab                                     

                   E Day- Library                                                   

                   F Day- Music                          

 

Our Daily Schedule

8:05- 8:35: Breakfast 

8:35-8:50: Morning work/ Handwriting practice (Tardy @8:40)

8:50-9:05:  Calendar Math time/ Morning meeting

9:05-9:25:  Whole Group Reading time

9:25-9:40:  Phonics Instruction

9:45-10:30: Literacy Stations

10:30-10:45:  Snack Time

10:45-11:15:  Recess

11:20-12:20: Math

12:20-12:35: Get Ready for Lunch

12:35-1:00:  Lunch/ Restroom Break

1:10-1:55- Activity

2:00-2:15: Bathroom/ Packup

2:15-2:45: Rest Time

2:50-3:00- Wrap up/ Start Dismissal @3:00

                    

Meet The Teacher

A little about me...  I am an Olive Branch High School graduate (c/o 2003).  I am married with with 2 kids (age 13 & 7).  I got my Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ole Miss (GO REBELS) in 2014.  This will be my 9th year with DCS~ MUSTANG PRIDE!  I have taught both 1st grade and Kindergarten and ABSOLUTELY love the littles!

Some of my favorite things include milk chocolate with almonds, scented markers, colored pens, Milos Sweet Tea, Starbucks coffee, Amazon, Chick-Fil-A, Pyro's pizza, and Firebirds.. My favorite color lately is navy blue.  I enjoy shopping, crafting, and spending time with family.

Daily Skill Building/Review

  • READ everyday- Read to a parent, parent read to child, ask questions about the story.  (Who are the characters? What is the setting? What happens in the story- beginning, middle, and end?)
  • Sight Words- read them, spell them, build them, write them, and use them in a sentence.
  • CVC Word Families- (Consonant vowel consonant)- Ex. pat, cat, bed, red, sit, bit, hop, mop, dug, and bug. Continue reading, making rhyming words,working with word families and writing words as well as using them in a sentence.
  • MATH- Practice counting (by 1s, 5s, and 10s) and writing numbers to 100 over the summer.  Add and subtract within 10 for practice fluency.
